Vijay holds lead but Weirsy surges!

The Mercedes championship is turning out to be a great tournament. Vijay followed up his great round yesterday with another great one today. He shot a 65 on the par 73 course to go to -15.

Mike Weir had a stellar 2nd round shooting a 10 under 63. Weir is at -13, 2 shots behind Vijay.

Ernie Els is right behind Weir at -12 after his round of 65 today.

Tiger shot his 2nd 68 in a row to finish the day at -10. Had Tiger not had putting problems he would be close to the lead.

Vijay is still the king

After round one of the Mercedes championship Vijay Singh was the leader. Apparently the winter break had no effect on his game. So for now it looks like everyone will be chasing him again. Tiger is missing some putts but still playing well. Wier is also right there (go neighbor!). Is Tiger going to give VJ a run this year?

Forums open at Web Country Club!

I've just installed and configured the FORUM section for Web Country Club!

2005 PGA TOUR

I'm very much looking forward to the 2005 PGA Tour season. There are many dynamics in play this year. Will Vijay continue at the torrid pace he established last year? Will Tiger win an actual STROKE PLAY event? Who will be #1? And my favorite question: Will Phil Mickleson win another major?

The Mercedes is this week in Hawaii. The fun thing about the Mercedes (since it is first tournament of the year) is that many of the big players debut their new gear for 2005. Two years ago it was Ernie Els bombing 400+ yard drives at sea level with his new Titleist 983K and ProV1X.

What will be the big new equipment release this year?

It's going to be a fun 2005!

The news on the news

I've been trying to figure out how to deal with having a news section on Web Country Club. I'm not a news reporter by trade and I don't have anyone setup as a reporter in the field. Since this site is starting out as a 1 man operation (with aspirations of expanding), I needed to figure out a way of staying current with the news. I could watch all the pro tourneys, read all the mags, check all the golf related web sites and create my own news. That would be a full time job.... so nope.

Then I started learning about RSS feeds. Using RSS feeds I can display the latest golf news as interpereted by many different sources. So for now, the golf news section is being built and will have a large (maybe someday the largest) golf rss feed section. The golf news section beta will be up this week and tweaks to the main page will be coming shortly. I also hope to get the forum section running soon.

Keep in touch.
